RECENT FILMS:

Toxic Flame Retardants PSA: a short public service announcement that I shot and edited as a full time employee at Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society. Ocean Futures is leading a campaign to ban toxic flame retardants because they are harmful to humans and to sealife. This video can be viewed in high definition by clicking on the HD button on YouTube, and then clicking on the full screen icon. Run Time 80 seconds.

Grassroots for the Ocean: a short film for Heal the Ocean, a non-profit organization in Santa Barbara, CA that works towards cleaner ocean water. Across the globe, people are joining together to protect the areas they love. They are cleaning up their beaches and forcing polluters to stop. This film is a tribute to these everyday, motivated, supportive people. Run Time 4:16. Written, shot and edited by Jim Knowlton.

Humpback Ballet: Cousteau divers film a close encounter with a pod of humpback whales. This Ocean Futures Society short film was edited by Jim Knowlton and Byron Thompson from video that is part of the Jean-Michel Cousteau Ocean Adventures television series. Run Time 3:15

Another Day at the Beach?: This short video documents how public passion and outcry about ocean pollution gave birth to Heal the Ocean, a non-profit organization in Santa Barbara, CA. Run Time 4:27. Written, shot and edited by Jim Knowlton.

Healthy Oceans PSA: This PSA expains that the health of the ocean is linked with our habits at home since water from our front yards goes into storm drains that lead directly to the ocean without treatment. Produced for the City of Santa Barbara Creeks Division and Santa Barbara Project Clean Water. Run Time 30 sec. Directed and edited by Jim Knowlton.

Storm Drain vs Sewer PSA: Runoff from yards and streets end up in storm drains that lead to the ocean, whereas water from our sinks and toilets go to water treatment plants before entering the ocean. So, we can improve our local ocean water quality by reducing the use of pollutants in our front yards because storm drains lead directly to the ocean. Produced for the City of Santa Barbara Creeks Division and Santa Barbara Project Clean Water. Run Time 30 sec. Directed and edited by Jim Knowlton.
