Jim Knowlton filmed an expedition to Swains Island with Jean-Michel Cousteau and a team of scientists and his film won an award in the category: Cultural Connections - People and the Sea at the Blue Ocean Film Festival in Florida in 2014. Produced, filmed, written & edited by Jim Knowlton.

Jim filmed the arrival of Hawaiian sailing canoe Hokulea when it arrived in American Samoa on its trip around the world. He produced and edited a short film, Our Ocean Heritage, about ocean conservation and Hokulea that won best Ecodox at the San Pedro International Film Festival in 2015.

Ocean luminaries Jean-Michel Cousteau, Dr. Sylvia Earle and Nainoa Thompson share two dives on coral reefs in American Samoa, where a National Marine Sanctuary helps protect the ocean for future generations. Produced, filmed and edited by Jim Knowlton. Premiered in the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 10th, 2016.

This short film features Dr. Sylvia Earle as she drives her submarine in Bikini bottom to check on the health of sealife. Produced by Jim Knowlton and Sarah Ettman-Sterner for Paramount Pictures' release of the new SpongeBob SquarePants. Shot with green screens and edited by Jim Knowlton. Available on iTunes.
