Jim Knowlton filmed an expedition to Swains Island with Jean-Michel Cousteau and a team of scientists and his film won an award in the category: Cultural Connections - People and the Sea at the Blue Ocean Film Festival in Florida in 2014. Produced, filmed, written & edited by Jim Knowlton.
Jim filmed the arrival of Hawaiian sailing canoe Hokulea when it arrived in American Samoa on its trip around the world. He produced and edited a short film, Our Ocean Heritage, about ocean conservation and Hokulea that won best Ecodox at the San Pedro International Film Festival in 2015.
Ocean luminaries Jean-Michel Cousteau, Dr. Sylvia Earle and Nainoa Thompson share two dives on coral reefs in American Samoa, where a National Marine Sanctuary helps protect the ocean for future generations. Produced, filmed and edited by Jim Knowlton. Premiered in the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 10th, 2016.
